A Refreshing Pause

Writer's picture: Kathy Winkler StudioKathy Winkler Studio

This beautiful bison bull paused for such a long time in front of the icy cold water trough, looking around him, maybe checking to see if he was going to have company. I studied him for a long time before he journeyed up to quench his thirst. I loved the way he turned his head with icy watery droplets emerging from his mouth and off his beard.

He stood there for what seemed like a very long time simply surveying his surroundings. It wasn’t until he was ready to leave that some of his bison cows decided to venture up to the “watering hole.” What went through my mind as the cows were approaching the water tank was what people do at the spring water dispensers catching up on office talk.
