I love the photo of this painting I am attempting to paint. My good friend, Shawnna Tarplay, gave me this photo of her husband and 3 – 4 year-old daughter rounding up cattle. Elise had been riding horses since she was 2. Now, grown, and about 19 years old, she has collected many riding buckles in rodeos for various events.
I can only hope that I do this painting justice. I do tend to forget that I don’t have to be as detailed as I usually am for larger subjects. I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed that I can pull this off, as I would like to submit it for consideration for a western journal cover art.
