LOOKING FOR ELK IN COLORADO

Writer's picture: Kathy Winkler StudioKathy Winkler Studio

When Jerry and I were in Denver last month, Kris and Blake took us to Estes Park, which is about 65 miles Northwest of Denver. After that we went to Rocky Mountain National Park where we saw a few elk. We had it in our minds that we would see lots and lots of Elk, as the rutting season had just ended.

We did see a couple of groups of cows scattered here and there among the winding roads through the park. We then saw a ginormous bull elk that only caught our eyes because there was a photographer right off the road with his (looked like a 2’ lens) camera taking photos of this gorgeous animal.

Blake used his very long lens and captured a couple of pics of this bull elk. It was thrilling to see this bull elk looking so majestic. These are magnificent animals. As we drove through the park, we did see a few more elk.
